Ultra Megalopolis - Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

A RUINED CITY IN ULTRA SPACE. It is unclear whether this is a different universe's Ultra Megalopolis or smaller colony. Regardless, it is a dark city with intermittent sections of flickering, artificial light... Large, black prism-like skyscrapers loom above flat black streets. Much ruin has fallen here, but you get the sense that you're not alone...

17 encounter a large section of the city that has been destroyed. rubble stretches all the way until the city's perimeter, which looks out into a view of what seems to be space.
19 encounter the haunting corpses of megalopolans that have been completely overtaken by black crystal or metal. it seems like the megalopolan's flesh has been completely overtaken by the material.
23 encounter a blacephalon that has slithered toward you and/or your party stealthily. they will attempt to explode their head for a surprise ambush.

they have no reason to be doing this themselves—clearing debris to make the path in and out easier—as they can simply portal in and out, but this helps the others, he supposes; those foolish enough to venture into ultra space.[break][break]

"y-yeah..."

kyle's response is quiet and almost absent as he finds himself enamored by a drawing on a wall. it was easy to dismiss it as just any other children's drawing since this was a remnant of a past civilization, but the familiarity draws him closer than it should have been.

he doesn't have the memories of an alternate universe, like matias does, but he attributes any familiarity he doesn't remember to the galar they have been through. there was no other explanation about how he recalls these drawings.

"you remember more about galar, right?" he asks matias, motioning for him to get closer. "do you recognize these?"

kyle does. it also brings him a sense of dread as he connects the sights they've seen to the prophecy.

he finds a little huff of joy escape his lungs as matias urges him along. it didn't feel like the borders when it's just the two of them, but rather a stroll in a forest in a backyard or something similar.

memories of a retainer that tugs him away from being sidetracked were long gone, but the feeling of longing the scene in his heart remained. it was bittersweet, but kyle has gotten used to the sensation.

"you think?" he asks, making small talk as they make progress on exploration. "but history is important for a reason."

kyle takes a picture of the mural as a remembrance this ultra space adventure before following matias deeper into the city.

he recites from memory having heard it somewhere once upon a time, likely in kanto in military school.[break][break]

while he should lead with caution in a place as unfamiliar and deadly as this, the way he walks boasts an arrogance he has come to be associated with.[break][break]

he stops shy of a scene littered with corpses that look as though they were running away from something. the odd scene is made even more odd by the black crystals that have overtaken their flesh.[break][break]

"do you know where i've seen those before?"

kyle takes out his solgaleo. the sleek, white plating that consisted of its armor has been replaced by the same dark crystals found on these corpses. kyle used to think it was just a different form that made the previous avatar's solgaleo distinct, but connections can be made from the present scene to the beast he has in his possession.

"it's similar, i think. i suppose necrozma being the culprit of it makes sense, but does it connect to the mural earlier?"

he produces a knife and approaches the corpses. he leans down and then tries to pry one of the crystals out of its flesh.

the morbid desecration of corpses does little to faze someone who worked with dead bodies from before rocket's invasion on hoenn. it was, however, the similarity of the knife's material with the dark crystals that causes him to stare for a bit longer.

"if we're meant to destroy every other universe, then that just means we can't die before we reach that part of the story first."

he turns to matias as soon as he gets the crystal chunk out of a corpse. it goes straight to a ziplock bag, while his eyes go to a large figure behind matias.

"get down!"

kyle pulls the volatile down to the ground with him as he sees the blacephalon's head glow. an ensuing explosion happens as he tries his best to hide both of them behind his solgaleo, who fires back its own explosion with metal burst.

it only takes a second for them to be dead meat in ultra space. getting a pokemon out at all times was probably the best thing to do in such situations.

the dome breaks down and what was left was a scarecrow of an ultra beast. the combination of matias and solgaleo's efforts makes sure that the blacephalon wouldn't act anytime soon.

"they always keep getting to us," kyle complains as he gets up. "i think we should head back. there's probably more of them."

the fact that they are fallers, or how it affects them, is still unknown to him.

he whistles for his solgaleo's attention and signs a circle with a finger to signal a wormhole. it finds ease in making one in this dimension, and one immediately appears for them to take.

"we'll continue searching the rest of the area later, i suppose."
